It is with great sadness that we have to record that Mr Barr, our long term mentor, collaborator and supporter of our R&D programme, died peacefully at his home on Friday 22nd January 2021 after a short illness at 100 years of age.

After working with Sir Frank Whittle, he founded the gas turbine company Centrax in Devon in 1946. Centrax won Queen’s awards in 1969, 2002 and 2010 for Enterprise and Export Achievements.

Mr Barr has been key to our development and commercialisation of the Cranial Access Triple Bolt Device (Technicam/Medicam)  and to our hydrocephalus shunt R&D programme.
